Prepare for Storm Ahead and Keep Up to Date on Snow Event and Road Conditions in the St. Cloud Area
Record-setting snow amounts are expected to fall in the St. Cloud area over the next three days. The first wave is expected to start Tuesday afternoon and go through Wednesday afternoon. The second wave is expected to start Wednesday afternoon and go through Thursday evening. The second wave will include high winds and a Blizzard Warning has been issued for Stearns County. The snow volume and wind gusts will create dangerous driving conditions.
During these type of snow events, it is critical that Public Works staff are focusing on the arterial and collector roads to ensure they are passable for emergency vehicles, ambulances and transit system. There will be a delay in getting to residential roadways, therefore it is recommended to plan ahead and alter plans where possible.
The City is encouraging residents to proactively move vehicles off the street if possible. This will greatly assist the plow operators and provide for more efficient snow removal operations.
Other Ways to Prepare
- Stay indoors, travel by vehicle is not advised and should be avoided.
- Pack a winter supply that has warm clothes, cell chargers, water and a flashlight.
- Stay tuned to your media outlets for updated storm information and road conditions.
