Whether you pick up trash, sweep up grass clippings or completely transform a dirty drain, it all helps keep our local waterways clean.
Keeping storm drains clean protects our environment by protecting waterways from polluted stormwater runoff that flows unfiltered from our streets into local waterways. In addition to trash, road salt and chemicals; organic debris like leaves and grass clippings also threaten the health of our waters. Decaying leaves and grass that wash into storm drains release nutrients into lakes and rivers that feed excess growth of algae.
St. Cloud Residents are Stepping Up
Since St. Cloud launched the Adopt-a-Drain program in 2020, 363 area storm drains have been adopted by nearly 200 St. Cloud residents. Adopters have kept nearly 12,000 pounds of debris out of our area waterways with their efforts!
You Don’t Have to do it Alone
Adopt a drain with your friends, family, business, girl or boy scout troop, club, neighbors – or any group interested in a fun, educational way to protect our water!
