Arctic Cat, one of the major world leaders in snowmobile and ATV manufacturing and Minnesota’s 38th-largest publicly traded company, has committed to investing $400,000 into its St. Cloud manufacturing plant to expand one of its assembly lines. In turn, that investment will create 10 new employment opportunities.  Arctic Cat currently operates a 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art engine assembly plant in the I-94 Business Park, located at the Opportunity Drive exit in St. Cloud, where it employs 32 full-time staff.

The final decision was made after a corporate committee considered multiple existing Arctic Cat sites in South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota in order to identify where the expansion would be best received.

After representatives from the reputable site-selection broker Jones Lang LaSalle consulted with the St. Cloud Economic Development Authority, the St. Cloud facility was chosen as the best fit for Arctic Cat’s 800cc Engine Assembly Line expansion. This installment brings some of its overseas production back to Arctic Cat’s home state.

One of the pro factors the consultants identified in their search was the City of St. Cloud’s close connection with St. Cloud State University and St. Cloud Technical & Community College and the exceptional workforce training programs they provide.

In partnership with the Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development Minnesota Investment Fund grant, the City is providing a $150,000 loan toward re-tooling and manufacturing equipment to support the addition of the new assembly line.
