Department Goals


To protect and serve, preservation of life, working together with community members to solve problems, prevent crime, apprehend criminals, recover and return stolen property and facilitate the safe and expeditious movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. There are four major areas of emphasis with the St. Cloud Police Department:

  1. Creating a safe environment in the downtown area for citizens to conduct business affairs and to visit.
  2. Creating a safe environment in the south side area.
  3. Working with the retail businesses in decreasing crimes in and around their premises.
  4. Working to decrease vehicle crashes on public property, particularly those that result in injury and/or death.

Vision Statement


The police department and community will work in partnership to create a safer city in which to live, work and visit.

Mission Statement


The St. Cloud Police Department will:
  1. Protect and Preserve the constitutional rights of all people.
  2. Develop, foster, and participate in problem solving partnerships with the community.
  3. Maintain an atmosphere that provides a high quality, caring and participatory police department.

Code of Conduct


To Serve Faithfully and Honestly.
To create loyalty to the organization by persevering and being consistent with this code of conduct.
  • Honoring Relationships. Building trust and honoring the relationships with individual and organizational commitment to excellence.
  • Do the Right Thing. Have the courage to do the right thing.
  • Listen and Communicate Honestly. Encourage, foster and create honest and open communication throughout the police department.
  • Can Do Versus Can’t Do. Be a positive role model with proactive, forward thinking vision and a "can do" attitude.
  • Be Accountable and Responsible for Your Conduct. Additionally, members of the department developed a list of three tentative goals the organization should achieve in the next calendar year, as well as short term milestones for meeting those goals. We invite the interested members of the public to provide some meaningful input in helping us to shape and develop these goals and the milestones needed to make them happen.
