Your property taxes are paid to the County Auditor/Treasurer in the county where your property is located. In St. Cloud, your property could be located in Benton, Sherburne or Stearns County. For more information please visit their websites below or contact the county offices.
Homestead classification applies to properties occupied as primary residence by their owners or a qualifying relative. Classification as homestead may qualify the property for a reduced classification rate, reduced taxable market value, property tax refund and/or special program eligibility. Apply for homestead as soon as you move into your new home. To qualify for a full-year homestead classification, homeowners must own and occupy their home on or before January 2nd of that year. Property not qualifying for homestead on January 2nd, but purchased and owner-occupied on or before December 1st of that same year, may qualify for a mid-year homestead classification. The filing deadline for mid-year homestead is December 15th.
