community art projects
The St. Cloud Arts Commission has engaged the public in various community art projects.  These have included:

St. Cloud on the ArtOrg 1,000 Print Summer Tour
St. Cloud residents created 121 prints at the St. Cloud Library Grand Opening, September 20, 2008.  This event was part of the 2008 1,000 Print Summer from ArtOrg, a Northfield, MN Arts Organization.  ArtOrg spent the summer of 2008 traveling through Minnesota and collecting over 1,000 prints. For more information about ArtOrg and the 1,000 Print Summer click here to visit their website.
1,000 Print Summer was supported by Forecast Public Artwork and individual printmaking sites.

Chalk It Up
Since 2006, the Arts Commission has sponsored Chalk It Up, an annual chalk art challenge.  The Arts Commission supplies the chalk and members of the community create amazing pieces of chalk art.  The event was originally part of the 4th of July celebration, but has since become a feature of St. Cloud's Granite City Days.

Creative Fire Hydrants
In 2003, and again in 2005, community members were invited to paint over 30 downtown and east side fire hydrants.  The Arts Commission supplied the painting materials, community members provided the creativity.  Photos of the resulting fire hydrants are available in pdf format.

A Day in the Life of St. Cloud Photography Project
In 2001, 30 disposable black and white camera were sent out into the community.  People were asked to take three pictures documenting their lives in St. Cloud.  Amazingly, all 30 camera were returned and over 500 community photographs were displayed for the public at City Hall, the Paramount Facility, and St. Cloud State University.
