[DRAFT] Let it Run!

Hello, this is St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis calling with a public service announcement.

Many homeowners underground water service pipes are freezing (click on map image to the right), leaving residents without running water. This problem even with the warmer weather is getting worse.

Water lines are expensive for homeowners to thaw and there are limited resources and equipment available for thawing. Older homes with older plumbing; small households; or people who live alone have an increased risk of freezing service lines.

We don’t want you to be without water.

The best way to prevent your service line from freezing is to let the water run (see 'Let it Run!' image) by turning on the tap to a pinky finger's width of water to keep movement in the lines. You only need to let one faucet run in your home.

Many lines have been freezing overnight. If you are concerned or will be away from home, we encourage you to let your water run.

See our website for more information. If you have a neighbor that you think won’t get this message. Please let them know!

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
